Jolly xmas short

Overall the movie sets out what it aims to do, and that is deliver a splendid xmas message to all its viewers. This movie has some great one-liners, however it wont have you rolling on the floor with laughter. Although the visual style is fresh and smooth, it could be considered n00bish in a few months/years due to its overuse of the bevel and blur effect in Flash 8 which many artists will have access to.

BritClock responds:

Yeah, I do tend to go a bit over the top with filters. People will have forgotten about this in a few years, though. :P

Thanks for the review, Simon.

A clock xmas movie that regular viewers can enjoy

This short movie has a lot of soul and net humor to it. Although the ending was predictable (Certainly for clock crew members), the flash was really enjoyable. Nice job.

A wonder let down by direction and sound

As a checkout operator, I relate to a lot of this stuff, its pritty damn funny. I love the selection of camera angle also, as well as the hand drawn doodle style of the whole thing.

However I really feel this could have been a lot lot better had there'd been more work with sound and direction. The flash is virtually mostly silent, with a few sound effects. Forcably happy "elevator music" like stuff, or perhaps a very quiet shop ambience would have given it a little more depth, without any extra animation work. Story-wise, the flash felt pritty anti-climatic. Whether this is the desired effect or not I dont know, however it would have been awesome if the baby wrestling sketch was the last as the reaction of the bookshop assistant would work as a climax to the flash. The audience relate to the attendant through the toon as he is the only consistent charecter, and to see him avenge his troubles is the highlight of the flash for me, and I'd imagine the audience.

However, these are small worries, and as you can see by the 8 score, I loved this flash. You have probably made the daily five, but if you improve a little, you could be an awesome frontpage artist. Keep at it you.

Thanks, pal... Yeah I considered using muzak in the background. But for some reason, I just never followed through with it. The hum of people shopping is a good idea too. I'll have to look around on the internet for something like that, cuz I don't have a portable sound recorder...

Inspiring

This has made me want to finish Bananabeard II again :) Thanks

HydraulicCat responds:

Thanks too! :D

Well, thank you

Thanks for ruining my part. Singling out people is low, and ignorant. What is daily2oons without some utterly funny things as well? You can clearly see in my graphic design that the parts meant to be part of a regular daily2oon collection. Well, what can I do or say? That was a waste of a good few hours.
